Green Labelling Certified (SGLS)
Singapore Environment Council

It is Singapore’s Foremost Environmental Standard and Certification Label
We are proud to announce that the Taka Design MCM™ (Modified Clay Material) Covering Pro Series has been officially certified under the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS) (Certification Number: 043-140-4475) dated on 19th Sept 2025, validating its status as an Environmentally Preferred Product with Recycled and Sustainable Content. This prestigious certification, awarded by the Singapore Environment Council (SEC), is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability, innovation, and meeting the most stringent environmental standards.
Why the SGLS Certification Matters: Rigorously Validated Environmental Claims Under Preferred Product With Recycled And Sustainability Content
The SGLS certification is not easily attained. It requires a rigorous, multi-faceted assessment to prove a product's environmental preferability. For our Taka Design MCM™ (Modified Clay Material (MCM) to be covered, the certification required us to demonstrate that our products manufacturing facilities are certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards. Furthermore, all performance and environmental test data for MCM products, including its life cycle assessment, had to be provided by a laboratory accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017, ensuring uncompromising scientific integrity.
Our successful certification is underpinned by this comprehensive data that meets strict international standards. A cornerstone of this achievement is our product's exceptionally low carbon footprint, which has been independently verified at just 1.02 kg CO2e per m² over its complete life cycle (cradle to grave). This verification ensures that our environmental claims are not just marketing rhetoric but are backed by hard data and recognized by one of Singapore's most trusted independent bodies.

Public Advisory - Beware of Fraudulent SGLS Certifications
It also to come to our attention that some sellers and manufacturers of counterfeit inferior products are circulating forged Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS) certificates. These fraudulent documents are often manipulated images ("photoshopped") and are used to mislead buyers and gain an unfair advantage in the market.
As the patented formulation product and certified Modified Clay Material
[ Taka Design MCM™ ], we urge all buyers and specifiers to exercise extreme caution.
Our product is the result of authentic, genuine formulation, protected as intellectual property under multiple international patents (granted in the U.S., Europe, and China). Our SGLS certification was rightfully earned through a rigorous, multi-faceted assessment and is backed by verifiable data. To protect your projects and ensure compliance, we strongly recommend that you:
Always verify the authenticity of any supplier's SGLS certification directly with the Singapore Environment Council (SEC).
-
Email Verification: Send the company name and their provided certification ID to greenlabel@sec.org.sg.
-
Phone Verification: Call the SEC at (65) 6337 6062 for immediate confirmation.
Do not accept certificates that cannot be validated through these official channels. Procuring from uncertified sources carries significant risk, including project non-compliance, inferior performance, and potential legal complications. Insist on genuine. Insist on verified.

Green Mark 2021 Technical Alignment
Taka Design MCM™ is actively preparing for Green Mark 2021 certification. Our materials are engineered to meet and exceed the required standards, and we are confident in achieving the highest rating.
Taka Design MCM™ is a Modified Clay Material engineered for high-performance architectural cladding. Backed by Singapore Green Label (SGLS) Category 43 certification and a Third-Party Verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) , our material offers a low-carbon, durable alternative to traditional stone and ceramic.

1. Whole Life Carbon (Section CN)
Under the Green Mark 2021 Whole Life Carbon framework, projects earn significant points by reducing embodied carbon.
-
Embodied Carbon (CN1.1 & CN1.2): Our EPD, compliant with EN 15804, provides verified carbon data for Modules A1–A3 (Product Stage). Because MCM is a low-temperature, unfired material, it significantly reduces upfront carbon compared to traditional tiles.
-
Service Life (CN1.1): Our 50-year service life declaration ensures that "Use Stage" (Module B) calculations in your Whole Life Carbon assessment remain favourable, reducing the need for frequent replacement cycles.
2. Sustainable Products & Finishes (Section CN2.2)
Taka Design MCM supports the Sustainable Products requirement, where projects aim for at least 60% of architectural works to be eco-certified.
-
SGLS Certified: Certification under SGLS Category 43 (Sustainable Content) makes Taka Design MCM a "pre-approved" material for architects targeting GoldPLUS or Platinum ratings.
-
Third-Party Verification: Our EPD ensures full transparency, meeting the "verified data" requirements of modern sustainability audits.
3. Maintainability & Health (Section Mt & HWB)
-
Health & Well-being (HWB): Our material complies with US EPA standards for indoor air quality, ensuring low VOC emissions and a healthier environment for occupants.
-
Maintainability (Mt): The flexibility and impact resistance of MCM prevent the common chipping associated with natural stone, lowering long-term maintenance costs and effort.
